Big news for those who wear glasses – SEE Eyewear has opened in downtown Seattle! Eyewear pioneer and SEE (Selective Eyewear Elements) Founder Richard Golden set out to change the rules of eyewear shopping by creating stylish yet affordable designs for women, men and kids. Far from your typical eyewear boutique, each style is handpicked and made exclusively for the company by top artisans, yet at a fraction of the cost. Customers no longer need to expect to pay $600-$900 for a pair of quality, designer caliber glasses. Each SEE boutique is set up to show a large selection of glasses, so customers can try on several before making a purchase decision.

The new Seattle store, located on Fifth Avenue, is the latest of 32 nationwide stores including New York, Los Angeles, South Beach, Boston, San Francisco, and Chicago among others. “We set out to develop a gouge free environment for people who appreciate trendy luxury eyewear without the ridiculously absurd price tag. Sourcing directly from the world’s most forward thinking designers allows SEE to bring true value to the consumer.” Says Golden. “Eyewear aficionados will have reserve sticker shock when they pick up a pair of glasses at SEE, thus the slogan, “hip without the rip”.”

Another unique feature about the company, is that they unveil a new, exclusive collection of eyewear each month, so there is always something to go back for. And judging from the Spring 2014 Runway collections, bold eyewear continues to be a huge trend. Designers showcased their looks with everything from oversized aviators to colorful plastic framed glasses, and everything in-between. Charlotte Ronson’s clear frames had a space-age edge, while menswear-inspired black plastic frames were a staple on the runway.

For sunwear, white and bright was a theme. From Kate Spade’s retro-inspired white to Balenciaga’s futuristic frames, unique sunglasses made their way down the runway in style.

Pop into your local SEE boutique for your next pair (or three) of glasses. You won’t have to spend a fortune to get current styles, worthy of any runway.
